Cypress Village

A 95-unit apartment complex providing affordable housing to homeless individuals and those with special needs will open Wednesday in Fort Myers. Cypress Village, which consists of 77 one-bedroom and 18 two-bedroom units, is hosting a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 4551 Winkler Ave.

Apartments are equipped with multiple energy-efficient features and amenities include a clubhouse, on-site laundry, a pool, fitness center and parking. On-site case managers from Community Assisted and Supported Living Inc. will be available to provide assistance and support to interested households.

The community is Tampa-based Blue Sky Communities’ sixth partnership with CASL, which also includes Jacaranda Place in Port Charlotte.

Financed through the Low Income Housing Tax Credit Program, State Apartment Incentive Loan program and funds from Lee County, Cypress Village will have 15% of apartments reserved for residents with less than 35 percent of Area Median Income. In addition, 85 percent of units will house residents with lower than 65 percent of AMI with rental assistance vouchers being accepted. Of the 95 apartments half are set aside for homeless households and 15 units will be set aside for persons with special needs.
