The Naples Players Academy of Dramatic Arts welcomed its first full-time class Sept. 2, made possible by a $1 million pledge from Patty and Jay Baker.

A $1 million pledge from longtime Naples philanthropists Patty and Jay Baker launched The Naples Players Academy of Dramatic Arts’ first full-time performing arts school. The inaugural class of 28 middle and high school students began Sept. 2, blending accredited academics with intensive theatre training in acting, dance and technical theatre. The program, soon to be renamed The Baker Day School at TNPA, is housed in The Naples Players’ renovated facility and integrates classroom studies with professional-level performance and technical opportunities. Scholarships and financial aid are available to ensure access for all students. An inaugural fundraising benefit, An Evening for Education, is scheduled Nov. 5 at Sugden Plaza in Naples to support the new academy’s growth.
