American Airlines is proposing new commercial service at Naples Airport, with plans to launch flights to Charlotte, North Carolina, in early December. The airline submitted a letter of intent to the Naples Airport Authority outlining plans for three daily departures and arrivals using 65-seat regional jets that meet the airport’s weight and noise limits. Airport officials said significant operational, regulatory and facility considerations remain before service can begin. The Naples Airport Authority Board of Commissioners is scheduled to review the proposal May 21. If approved, the service would mark the return of scheduled commercial airline flights to Naples for the first time since 2017.
