The Black Box Theater at Lemuel Teal Middle School and Veterans Park Academy for the Arts officially opened Dec. 12 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and inaugural performances by students from both schools. The debut marks the completion of a multiyear, $51 million project funded by the half-cent sales tax approved by voters in 2018. Improvements included reopening Lemuel Teal Middle School, installing a new roof and upgraded air conditioning and remodeling Veterans Park to better meet student needs. The new joint-use theater also will be available for community rentals. The Black Box Theater is located inside Lemuel Teal Middle School, 104 Arthur Ave. in Lehigh Acres.
