Cape Coral is moving forward with negotiations on a private proposal to redevelop portions of the Yacht Club Community Park. City Council directed staff to work with KMB Marine and Yacht Clubs of the Americas on its plan for a 130-slip marina, 685-space parking garage, waterfront restaurant, community and event space and a six- to seven-story, 125-room hotel. The initial marina and parking component represents an estimated $30-$33 million in private investment. The proposal calls for a 99-year concession lease, with the city retaining ownership of the land. Council’s direction is not final approval, and project details remain subject to negotiation.
