Charlotte County businesses could see lower property insurance premiums after Charlotte County Fire & EMS improved its Insurance Services Office fire protection rating from 4/4X to 3/3X. The new classification reflects improvements in firefighter training, emergency response capabilities and fire protection. ISO ratings range from 1 to 10, with lower scores indicating stronger protection. Class 3 generally covers properties within five road miles of a fire station and 1,000 feet of a recognized water supply. Class 3X applies to properties within five road miles but farther from a recognized water supply. Actual insurance savings will depend on individual properties, insurers and coverage terms.
