Collier County homeowners face conflicting insurance cost estimates

An aerial view of a Collier County residential neighborhood. A new Insurify report estimates Collier County homeowners insurance premiums rose 25.3% during the first half of 2026, while state regulatory data cited by the Insurance Information Institute shows a 2% annual increase as of March 31.

Collier County ranked second nationally for rising homeowners insurance costs in a new Insurify report, but state regulatory data suggests a much smaller increase. Insurify estimated premiums climbed 25.3% during the first half of 2026, putting the average annual cost at $10,052. The Insurance Information Institute disputed those findings, citing Florida Office of Insurance Regulation data showing average premiums of $5,534 as of March 31, up just 2% from a year earlier. Insurify uses standardized coverage assumptions and pricing estimates, while state figures reflect premiums homeowners actually pay. The differing methodologies and reporting periods make direct comparisons difficult, highlighting uncertainty surrounding insurance affordability, WINK News reports.
