Crews will truck in beach-quality sand to Vanderbilt and Pelican Bay beginning in late October as part of Collier County’s $7.5 million beach-renourishment project.

Crews will begin renourishing Vanderbilt and Pelican Bay beaches in late October, trucking in beach-quality sand from Stewart Mining in Immokalee. County commissioners awarded the work to Dickerson Infrastructure Inc. and approved funding for the $7.5 million project. About $5.5 million in Tourist Development bed tax funds will cover the public Vanderbilt Beach portion; the Pelican Bay Services Division will fund work on its private beach. Sand placement will run 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays, with brief pauses around the Thanksgiving (Nov. 27-30) and Christmas/New Year’s holidays (Dec. 24-Jan. 2). The turnaround at the end of Vanderbilt Beach Road will be closed during construction. Completion is expected by mid-January 2026.
