Gov. Ron DeSantis signed legislation that will change how the Naples Airport Authority board is selected, shifting from city-appointed members to an elected board chosen by Collier County voters. The new law requires five members, including three city residents and two county residents outside Naples, each with relevant professional experience. The change follows debate over airport governance, including past decisions on funding and operations. Naples city leaders opposed the measure, citing concerns about losing local control over a major public asset. The first elections for the restructured board are scheduled for the 2026 general election.

Good luck to all who live near the airport or those who shop/dine in the 5th Ave area….the noise will get much worse, the noise is already intolerable. The airport property belongs to the City and the City should be suing the State or revoking the Lease.
