Florida gas prices remain well above year-ago levels despite easing through the weekend. The statewide average for regular gasoline was $4.34 a gallon Sept. 28, according to AAA, down from $4.37 Sept. 27 but up from $4.281 a week ago. Prices are nearly 40 cents higher than a month ago and $1.41 above the $2.937 average a year ago. Prices had jumped 18 cents during the previous week before retreating over the weekend. In Southwest Florida, Charlotte County had the lowest average price per gallon at $3.34, followed by Lee County ($4.37) and Collier County ($4.47).
