Florida Repertory Theatre’s Historic Arcade Theatre in downtown Fort Myers.
Florida Repertory Theatre has received a $370,000 state appropriation to support and expand its arts education programs across Southwest Florida. The Fort Myers nonprofit, based at 2268 Bay St. in the downtown River District, serves approximately 35,000 young people and families annually through its education initiative. Funding will primarily support youth theater productions, summer camps, conservatory performances, classes and school-based programs. The appropriation, sponsored by former state Rep. Jenna Persons-Mulicka and state Sen. Jonathan Martin, will also strengthen the theater's overall operations. Florida Rep plans to recognize the funding during an Oct. 23 ceremony at the Historic Arcade Theatre before its opening-night performance.
