Florida small businesses overwhelmingly support creating a state-facilitated retirement savings option for workers, according to a new AARP survey. The study found 87% of respondents want lawmakers to make it easier for small businesses to offer retirement savings, while 84% said offering a plan could help attract and retain employees. Among businesses without a retirement plan, 74% said they would likely offer the privately managed option described in the survey. More than 4 million Florida private-sector workers are employed by businesses without retirement plans. Florida lawmakers are expected to consider legislation creating a public-private savings program during the 2027 legislative session.
