The Whale returning to Fort Myers Beach, symbolizing resilience post-Ian

The Whale, a Fort Myers Beach restaurant destroyed by Hurricane Ian, is set to reopen Nov. 1 with new designs and equipment.

The Whale, a longtime Fort Myers Beach favorite, is preparing to reopen nearly three years after Hurricane Ian devastated the barrier island. The restaurant was reduced to ruins in 2022 but has been rebuilt with new designs and equipment. Owners Mike and Dawn Miller said the comeback represents resilience and renewal for the community. About 80 positions will be filled at upcoming job fairs ahead of a grand opening planned for Nov. 1, WINK News reports.
