The Immokalee Foundation received a $350,000 state appropriation to expand its Career Pathways workforce development program, which prepares students for careers in Southwest Florida's high-demand industries. The funding, included in Florida's 2026-27 budget, was championed by state Sen. Kathleen Passidomo and state Rep. Lauren Melo. Since launching in 2018, the program has guided students from middle school through college and into careers, combining mentoring, paid internships, scholarships and industry certifications. Foundation officials said the funding will strengthen the region's workforce pipeline while creating additional opportunities for Immokalee students.
