The Old Lee County Courthouse at 2120 Main St. in downtown Fort Myers is home to the Lee County Commission Chambers. Regular Board of County Commissioners meetings are held there on the first and third Tuesdays of each month.
Lee County commissioners approved $15 million in federal disaster-recovery funding to reconstruct Main Street on San Carlos Island and improve its stormwater drainage system. The project will include parcel acquisition, roadbed reconstruction, milling and resurfacing, sidewalk replacement, drainage pipes, catch basins and roadside swales. Existing drainage outfalls also will be evaluated for potential expansion. Hurricanes Helene and Milton caused significant flooding on the island and exposed deficiencies in the Main Street drainage system. The county previously approved purchasing property at 1100 Main St. for a new drainage outfall. The funding comes from Lee County’s $100.7 million federal Community Development Block Grant-Disaster Recovery allocation. Engineering and design procurement is next.
