Naples nonprofit receives diabetes care grant

Help a Diabetic Child received a $12,000 grant from United Way of Collier and the Keys to help uninsured and underinsured children and young adults living with diabetes in Southwest Florida. The Naples-based nonprofit said the funding will provide insulin, diabetes medical supplies and related services for families struggling with the high cost of treatment. Founded in 2013 by Tami Balavage after her son was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes, the organization supports children and young adults who cannot afford essential diabetes care.
