Home insurance rates ease in Southwest Florida

Homeowners insurance premiums declined on average in Lee and Charlotte counties from March 2025 to March 2026, while Collier County recorded a slight increase, according to an analysis of state insurance data.

Homeowners insurance costs are beginning to ease in parts of Southwest Florida, although premiums remain high. Average premiums decreased 1.5% in Lee County and 1.3% in Charlotte County from March 2025 to March 2026, while Collier County recorded a 0.2% increase, according to Insurance Information Institute analysis of state data. Average annual premiums were $3,576 in Lee, $3,160 in Charlotte and $5,344 in Collier. Florida regulators also recently approved rate decreases for four insurers covering more than 62,000 policies. Since January 2024, 48 insurers have sought rate decreases, while 53 have requested no increase, WINK News reports.
