Construction of Babcock High School and an adjacent field house is now complete and on schedule to welcome students for the 2022-23 school year Aug. 8. Located on the education campus at Babcock Ranch, construction on the two-story school commenced in July 2021. It will welcome students from ninth through 11th grade, with 12th grade being added for the 2023-2024 school year. Designed with flexible and adaptable spaces, the high school will offer visual and technology-aided art programs facilitated by a 3D printer lab, academic clubs and real-world extracurricular activities. Students will also have access to the adjacent one-story field house. The 40,600-square-foot facility features two gymnasiums, a fitness center, a cafeteria and men’s and women’s locker facilities. Built to International Code Council 500 as an emergency storm shelter for up to 1,343 occupants, the field house will provide community programs and rental venues for private functions.
