Fort Myers City Council unanimously voted to endorse the Bonita Estero Rail Trail Project, following the path of other municipalities, such as the village of Estero and city of Bonita Springs. The project could transform a 14.9-mile portion of the Seminole Gulf Railway into a recreational biking trail spanning from northern Collier County to Alico Road in Lee County. The trail will connect to the John Yarborough Trail to the north and Paradise Coast Trail to the south. Endorsement means Council supports the project and desires it to move forward.
