The SanCap Chamber celebrated the addition of 20 rental units to Sanibel’s accommodations census with the reopening June 13 of Pelicans Roost, 605 Donax St. It will begin accepting rentals Aug. 1. Open on Sanibel since 1978, Pelicans Roost was severely damaged by Hurricane Ian in 2022. The complete and comprehensive rebuild included all units taken to the foundation with new electrical, plumbing, HVAC, floors, kitchens and bathrooms. The pool was resurfaced, and there is a new boardwalk to the beach, a new grill area and new landscaping.
