Hodges’ PTA program partners with Chipotle for fundraiser
Hodges University’s Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program students have partnered with Chipotle for a fundraiser held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Aug. 26 at Chipotle at 8061 Dani Drive, Suite 140 in Fort Myers. Naples North Rotary Club distributing wheelchairs to those who need them
The Naples North Rotary Club is teaming up with the Collier County Sheriff’s Office to help people get around a little bit easier. It’s called the “Wheels of Hope” program, which has about 100 wheelchairs ready for Collier County residents who need them most. “We are really targeting the people that do need it and it will make a major impact on their lives and they do not have the financial means to get one themselves,” said Carrie Kerskie, the club’s president-elect. Opera Naples receives $1 million gift from David & Cecile Wang Trust
Opera Naples has received a $1 million gift from the David I.J. Wang Trust. David and Cecile Wang have been long-time friends and supporters of Opera Naples, says Jerry Goldberg, former Opera Naples board chairman and current board member “The Wangs are our largest cumulative donors,” Goldberg says. “Our relationship goes back to before their original gift of $500,000 in 2012 for the first phase of construction of what is today the Wang Opera Center.” For information, visit operanaples.org

The Immokalee Foundation awarded $15,000 grant
The Immokalee Foundation has received a $15,000 grant from the CLA Foundation
to support Career Pathways, the foundation’s career-oriented program that serves middle and high school students in Immokalee. The CLA Foundation funds efforts to create career opportunities for individuals through education, employment and entrepreneurship – directly aligning with the mission of The Immokalee Foundation to build pathways of success for the students of Immokalee through career exploration and life skills development. The ultimate goal is for students to achieve professional careers that provide economic independence and break the intergenerational cycle of poverty. Special Olympics Florida receives $5,000 grant
Special Olympics Florida (SOFL) has received a $5,000 grant from the Community Foundation of Collier County. These funds will support general operations for sports training, competition, and healthcare programs for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Special Olympics Florida in Collier County serves more than 2,400 athletes and unified partners who participate in community sports, Unified Champion Schools, and young athletes programs. The programs open a gateway for SOFL athletes to achieve empowerment and acceptance in their communities. The SOFL team works with educators and coaches to implement programs that are inclusive; sensitive to behavioral, emotional and communicative needs; and inspire leadership within the population to embrace an inclusive culture.
