LEE COUNTY CLERK EARNS FINANCIAL EXCELLENCE AWARD
For the 33rd year in a row, the Lee County Clerk’s Finance Department has received the “Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting” for the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR). The CAFR is the audited financial statements for Lee County that includes the board of county commissioners, clerk of courts, property appraiser, sheriff, supervisor of elections and tax collector offices. The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management. The CAFR is judged by an impartial panel of the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) and must meet the high standards of the program.

The Help A Diabetic Child Foundation and National Wellness Institute will present the fourth annual von Arx Family Foundation Southwest Florida Diabetes & Wellness Conference from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Nov. 4 at the Florida SouthWestern State College Collier Campus. A collaboration of the Help A Diabetic Child Foundation and National Wellness Institute, the von Arx Family Foundation Southwest Florida Diabetes Conference brings together doctors, researchers, medical experts, patients, parents and caregivers whose lives have been affected by diabetes. Experts provide an educational and professional forum to further public knowledge on diabetes education, wellness, prevention and research. The full-day conference includes lecture-style talks, hands-on demonstrations, nutritional advice for diabetes management and prevention, vendors and products, support groups, and other educational opportunities. The conference is open to the public. Tickets start at $12 per person with all proceeds benefitting supplies for children with diabetes through the Help a Diabetic Child Foundation. JOHN JOINS COLLIER’S DEPARTMENT OF TOURISM
Jeffrey John has joined the Naples, Marco Island, Everglades Convention and Visitors Bureau as sports development manager. John will work closely with Collier County Parks and Recreation as well as national, state and local governing bodies to solicit and retain sports tourism events in the region. He will also join the planning team for Collier County’s new amateur sports complex being developed on the east side of Naples near I-75 exit 101. John, a National Association of Sports Commissions-certified sports event executive, previously served as sales manager for Visit Tucson Sports, and in a similar position with the Greater Columbus Sports Commission. Over the past 20 years, he has worked on events with a sports organizations including the American Junior Golf Association, Major League Soccer, Ohio High School Athletic Association, National Collegiate Athletic Association, the United States Olympic Committee and numerous youth sports organizations.
CHAMBERS RETURNS TO VI AT BENTLEY VILLAGE
Joe Chambers has returned to the position of director of sales for Vi at Bentley Village in Naples. Chambers directs all sales efforts of Vi at Bentley Village, manages a team of eight sales members, and represents the retirement community to the larger Naples and Bonita Springs area. Chambers has more than 20 years of experience in the senior-living industry. For the past three years, he has served as the vice president of sales and marketing for a nationwide senior living operator. Prior to that experience, Chambers served as director of sales at Vi at Bentley Village for six years and worked at the Vi corporate office in Chicago for three years as assistant vice president of sales. He led Vi at Bentley Village’s recently completed $85 million redevelopment project. Chambers holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland at College Park.
BANK NAMES LOAN OPERATIONS TEAM
Charlotte State Bank & Trust has named Jane Boston assistant vice president and loan operations manager, Ann Erbaugh assistant loan operations manager and Donna Cornell senior loan servicing specialist. All three have extensive banking and loan operations experience. Boston, who has been with Charlotte State Bank & Trust more than 14 years, is responsible for the organization and daily operations associated with all loan activities, as well as customer assistance and department management as they relate to the servicing of loan-related products. Erbaugh has more than 35 years of experience in the financial industry. She served as a loan processor and supervisor, senior vice president of loan operations, quality control manager and individual retirement account specialist. She joined Charlotte State Bank & Trust in 2016. Cornell is celebrating her 20th anniversary with the bank in December. She has experience in customer service, sales and all aspects of loan operations. She also spent six years as the bank’s internal control officer.

Cameron Mitchell Restaurants (CMR) recently recognized several managers, chefs, associates and restaurants for their outstanding performance in 2018 at the company’s 25th annual Leadership Conference, held in Sonoma, California. Awards were presented to the CMR specialty concepts and the Ocean Prime brand. Ocean Prime Naples Assistant General Manager Jacqueline Hernandez received the Dining Room Manager of the Year award. LARC receives $2,500 grant for engraving enterprise
The Rotary Club of Fort Myers recently awarded Lee Association for Remarkable Citizens (LARC) a $2,500 grant to purchase equipment needed to complete an engraving enterprise for their Adult Day Training Workshop program. LARC has been serving the needs of individuals impacted by intellectual and developmental disabilities since 1954 and provides specialized training so clients can live, work and participate in their communities to the fullest extent their capabilities allow. LARC’s workshop program prepares individuals for the workplace through paid on the job training, and the engraving enterprise will expand this program, allowing participants to engrave and create custom products while earning competitive wages.
