In the midst of the ongoing chicken sandwich wars between franchises, a restaurant declaring itself the “Filet Mignon of Chicken” plans to open locations in Southwest Florida. Central Florida-based Huey Magoo’s Chicken Tenders announced expansion in 2022 that includes signing new franchises to add eight stores in the Fort Myers and Naples area.

Founded in 2004 by Matt Armstrong and Thad Hudgens, who partnered with former executives from Wingstop, Huey Magoo’s serves premium chicken tenders that are hand-breaded and made to order or grilled marinated for 24 hours with the choice of Buffalo, lemon pepper, garlic parmesan and sweet heat sauces. Also on the menu are farm-fresh salads, sandwiches and wraps.

While expecting to open approximately 30 new restaurants this year across the Southeast, Huey Magoo’s President and CEO Andy Howard said company officials are in the early stages scouting locations in Southwest Florida for the eight stores.

Huey Magoo’s has locations in Altamonte Springs, Championsgate, Coral Springs, Daytona Beach, Orlando, Jacksonville Beach, Lady Lake, Lake Mare, Ocoee, Oviedo, Sunrise, Apopka and Winter Springs as well as stores in Georgia, Mississippi, Tennessee, South Carolina, North Carolina, Alabama and Nevada.
