After viewers donated more than $528,000 to the WINK News’ March to a Million Meals fund drive in 2023, the station’s month-long campaign returned last week to support the efforts of Harry Chapin Food Bank of Southwest Florida.

This February, WINK News is inviting the Southwest Florida business community to stand united in the fight against hunger.

The initiative is not just a call to action, but an invitation to local businesses to become beacons of hope. Every dollar donated can provide two meals, and with the campaign’s goal to feed a million locals by March 1, the impact of every contribution is significant.

“I have been at several food distributions in Southwest Florida in the last month, and it is alarming how many working people are in line to get food for their families,” WINK News Anchor Lois Thome said. “They are not unemployed, but underemployed … not making enough to cover the rent, the electric bill and feed their families.  This on-air campaign is so necessary to make sure no one has to go hungry in our community.”

More than a quarter million people locally rely on Harry Chapin Food Bank every month to help feed their families.

Businesses participating in the March to a Million Meals campaign will not only contribute to a vital cause but will also gain recognition during WINK News broadcasts. This gesture of goodwill is an opportunity for businesses to demonstrate their commitment to the community.

“Your generosity, no matter the size, is a lifeline of hope. We’re inviting the business community to join us in this heartfelt journey,” Thome said. “Together, let’s transform hunger into hope, one meal at a time. As we march toward this million-meal milestone, let’s show that our community is not just rich in resources but also in compassion”.

Businesses interested in contributing can call 239-479-5548 or email MarchForMeals@winknews.com.
