After 15 years in Cape Coral, Downtowner Car Wash is undergoing a change of ownership. Tuscon, Arizona-based Mister Car Wash announced the acquisition of the five locations serving the area since the father-son ownership team of Jay and Troy Montpetit carried over their business from St. Paul, Minnesota, to Southwest Florida. The deal totaled $23.5 million, according to public records.
“The Montpetit family and their team have built a nice platform of locations in Cape Coral, complementing our overall presence throughout Florida,” said Casey Lindsay, vice president of corporate development for Mister Car Wash, which will operate 65 locations in the state after rebranding. “We are looking forward to bringing Mister’s welcoming car wash experience to the customers of Cape Coral and plan to continue expanding in the region through a combination of acquisitions and new store development.”
Downtowner has locations on Del Prado Boulevard, Pine Island Road, Cape Coral Parkway, Skyline Boulevard and Santa Barbara Boulevard, offering a mix of full-service car washing and detailing.

Business is expected to continue operating as normal in the near term. Mister will be working with the current team in the next few months to rebrand the stores and optimize service and product offerings as it fully integrates the stores into the brand.
The company operates more than 360 car washes nationwide, with the largest car wash subscription program in North America. Mister also owns five Clean Machine Car Wash locations in Bonita Springs, Fort Myers, Naples and East Naples it plans to rebrand.
