The area’s fifth Mr. Tequila is targeted to open this month off Corkscrew Road in Estero. The Mexican restaurant is expected to open before the end of the year in the former space of Applebee’s, which permanently closed in spring 2020 after operating for 15 years.
The Placencia family, doing business as Plasro LLC, purchased the 4,900-square-foot freestanding restaurant at 10391 Corkscrew Commons Drive for $1.775 million this summer. The restaurant with a full bar and a 750-square-foot covered patio fronts Corkscrew Road in front of Springhill Suites by Marriott and Embassy Suites by Hilton just west of Interstate 75 exit 123.
The extensive menu of the Estero restaurant will be the same as its four other locations, said co-owner Manuel Placencia. Mexican-style combination plates will be available for lunch and dinner, providing choices such as burritos, chile rellenos, chimichangas, enchiladas, fajitas, flautas, tacos and quesadillas. House specialties include steaks, grilled chicken and molcajete.
Seafood selections feature salmon, tilapia, shrimp tacos and other shrimp dishes. Soup, salads, appetizers and vegetarian dishes also are available.
Mr. Tequila’s first area restaurant launched in 2010 on U.S. 41 North in Naples. The family-operated concept added a second location in 2013 on U.S. 41 East in East Naples, a third on Estero Boulevard in Fort Myers Beach in 2014, and its fourth just two years ago off Immokalee Road in North Naples.
