Ametek, which sells industrial components to other companies, just leased an 18,819-square-foot office building in Naples to hold corporate meetings. The building at 3520 Kraft Road will allow corporate executives such as CEO David Zapico, a part-time North Naples resident, a convenient place at which to meet, said Kevin Coleman, vice president of communications for Ametek.

Ametek, which has about 19,000 employees and 150 locations around the world, will remain headquartered in Berwyn, Pennsylvania, a suburb of Philadelphia. Supplies for automation, aerospace technology and power generators are just some of the many items Ametek handles.

“We are not moving our corporate headquarters,” Coleman says. “We are leasing a very small office location in Naples. It’s a good use of space to have that.”

Adam Palmer of LandQwest brokered the lease. “It was a very confidential search,” Palmer says. “Only three people in the company knew about the search.”

The original intent was to find 7,000- to 8,000-square feet of space, Palmer said. “Their space needs doubled from when the search originally started,” Palmer says. “They received a more favorable response than they expected to having a larger facility in Florida.”

ACI Worldwide, which specializes in payment software solutions, vacated the Naples property, relocating its headquarters back to Miami last year, Palmer said. Ametek has a history of chief executive officers choosing Collier County as a place to live.

Walter Blankley, who presided over the company as CEO at the time of his retirement in 2001, worked for Ametek for 40 years. He also donated some of his time and money to Guadalupe Center in Immokalee, which has a mission to eradicate hunger and poverty.
