Collier County topped SmartAsset’s list of “Places with the Highest Tax Refunds” in Florida. The financial technology company’s study measured the total amount of money refunded by the IRS to residents in each county divided by the number of refunds given out to residents in each county to determine where residents received the highest average tax refunds. In Collier County, 120,180 taxpayers receive refunds, and the average tax amount refunded is $4,315, according to the study. Glades County ranked No. 3, followed by Hendry County at No. 7.
