BAYFRONT HEALTH ER & URGENT CARE IN CAPE CORAL OPENING TODAY

Bayfront Health ER & Urgent Care in Cape Coral is opening this morning in north Cape Coral, providing a service closer to community members who would have otherwise traveled greater distances. Tara McCoy, the CEO of Bayfront Health Port Charlotte in Punta Gorda, is the driving force behind the new, all-in-one ER and urgent care facility in Cape Coral. The design is simple and easy. Half the space is urgent care. The other half is a full-service emergency room. The new ER and urgent care facility will create 50 new jobs, WINK News reports.

FEASIBILITY STUDY TO COMMENCE FOR THE 70-PLUS MILE PARADISE COAST TRAIL

Naples Pathways Coalition (NPC) selected Kimley-Horn and Associates Inc. to complete a feasibility analysis of the organization’s keystone project, the 70-plus mile Paradise Coast Trail. Florida Department of Transportation’s Notice to Proceed is expected soon. Over the subsequent 12-15 months, engineers will be collecting and inventorying data, conducting public outreach, and developing an action plan. In addition to the feasibility study, Kimley-Horn will complete environmental reviews for two priority segments that will be identified through the feasibility study. Upon completion of the study, stakeholders will have a report with key milestones to guide the development of the Paradise Coast Trail. Funding for the feasibility study is provided by the Florida Department of Transportation through a Local Legislative Funding Request, Collier County, the City of Naples, and donations made to Naples Pathways Coalition, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization whose mission is to create safe, bikeable and walkable communities in Collier County.

LEE COMMISSIONERS APPROVE CONTRACT FOR NEXT GENERATION E911 SYSTEM

Lee County commissioners voted Tuesday to award a contract for a Next Generation E911 system that will improve call processing and management and add capabilities such as improved location of 911 callers using cellular phones and text-to-911 functions. The contract with Vesta Solutions Inc. is for all associated services, software, equipment and infrastructure at public safety answering points, which include Lee County Public Safety, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, the Cape Coral Police Department, the Fort Myers Police Department and the Sanibel Police Department. The $2.9 million contract includes three years of warranty service and will be paid for with E911 reserve funds. The project was bid through an Invitation to Negotiate, and four bidders responded. The work is scheduled to be completed before the end of the year, with most of the installation and training planned for this summer.

MILLENNIUM PHYSICIAN GROUP OPENS VACCINE REGISTRATION WEBSITE

Millennium Physician Group is offering its patients the opportunity to pre-register for the COVID-19 vaccine. Millennium patients just have to visit the new website and enter some personal information. Once a vaccine becomes available, they will receive an email or text asking them to choose a time, date and location at which to get vaccinated. In accordance with new state guidelines that were effective Monday, patients who are 60 and over, Millennium’s own health care workers with direct patient contact, and patients under 60 deemed “extremely vulnerable” to COVID-19 are eligible to pre-register. The first appointments through Millennium’s patient vaccine self-registration website will be scheduled for the week of March 22, WINK News reports.

NEW OWNERS ACQUIRE MISSION HILLS SHOPPING CENTER IN NAPLES AREA

Slate Grocery REIT has acquired Mission Hills Shopping Center on the northwest corner of Collier Boulevard and Vanderbilt Beach Road in North Naples. The sale was announced March 9 by JLL Capital Markets, the firm that represented seller Phillips Edison & Company Inc. in brokering the deal. The 85,078-square-foot neighborhood center, anchored by Winn-Dixie, is fully leased. The acquisition is the 12th in Florida, for Slate Grocery REIT, a Toronto-based owner and operator of U.S. grocery-anchored real estate. Completed in 2005, Mission Hills was renovated in 2018 and features a full lineup of 17 service-oriented tenants on 18.8 acres at 7550 Mission Hills Drive.
