It’s been 19 months since our Canadian neighbors have been able to visit their vacation homes, but the northern border will reopen to visitors on Nov. 8.
The ground border reopening and lifting restrictions on international air travel means Southwest Florida can expect to see more traffic and revenue beginning next month as Canadians are able to return to their winter home away from home.
The Biden administration says everyone who crosses the border into the U.S. must be vaccinated. Paul Beirnes, Collier County’s new tourism director said more international travelers means longer stays and more money for the county, WINK News reports.
“We do suspect that Q1 2022 will be pretty exceptional when it comes to international visitation,” Beirnes says.
