The Boardroom, an American-made charcuterie and wine bar, quietly opened this month in North Naples.

The venue launched in the former space of Bella Mia Italian Café, which closed in May after operating for three years at 808 Wiggins Pass Road, a short distance west of the U.S. 41 intersection. Not a typical dining spot, The Boardroom features a simple menu of charcuterie, salads and wines.

“You can build your own cheese board, build your own meat boards. There are boards that are paired with certain wines. We have a decent selection of wines,” said owner Nick Mohibi. “We have individual boards, boards for couples, boards for four and we also do catering.”

The menu notes that grazing tables are available for catering. The menu features three varieties of “Gather Boards” that feed two to four or more people. These boards, served with crackers and baguettes, include the Meat Lover’s Board with beef pastrami, chorizo serrano, dry salami, prosciutto, cheeses, artichoke hearts, olives and pickles; a Cheese & Bread Board with brie, goat cheese, muenster, Manchego, Parmigiano Reggiano, grapes, berries, olives, nuts and more; and the Grazing Board with a mixture of meats, cheeses, nuts and other items.

Ninety percent of the venue’s wine selections are from California and the U.S., while about 10% are from France and Italy. “Most of the products are American,” Mohibi said.

Nick and his wife, Nila, and their three children recently relocated to Naples from Burlington, Ontario, near Toronto. They previously vacationed in the area but bought a house here after seeing it only online.

While Mohibi said it’s not his first hospitality venture, he said it’s his first wine bar and a prototype for a wine bar and charcuterie concept that has been five years in the making.

Mohibi said he has folks who want to come in with him as partners to open locations for the concept but he wanted to do the first one on his own to see how it plays out. “But we do have plans down the road. Within 17 months we have a timeline to open up two more,” he said.

The aggressive plan is not targeting another in Southwest Florida but rather they are considering locations in places such as Miami and Georgia. “We’re kind of like all over the map right now,” Mohibi said.

The Boardroom is hosting a grand opening event from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday with a wine tasting, menu sampling and live music. Tickets are $25 on Eventbrite.

Regular hours are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The venue is closed Sundays and Mondays for possible private parties and events. It has about 50 seats between an inside bar and tables and outdoor dining.
