Starbucks has permanently closed a Fort Myers location as part of a nationwide reduction of about 250 stores. The drive-thru-only coffee shop at 4790 Colonial Blvd., at the southwest corner of Colonial Boulevard and Six Mile Cypress Parkway, closed in late September. Starbucks said the affected locations were ones where the company could not consistently provide its desired customer experience or did not see a path to acceptable financial performance. The closures are part of the company’s “Back to Starbucks” strategy. Employees affected by the closures were offered opportunities to transfer to other locations or receive severance benefits.
