Collier County Commissioners approved $29 million for water treatment-related infrastructure projects at the county’s northeast facility. The project expected to take three years to complete will include two deep injection wells, which are drilled down to 3,250 feet, as well as a dual zone monitoring well to monitor the results for utilization of those wells, county Public Utilities Director Matt McLean said. The wells have the capacity for 16 million gallons of water each. McLean said funding will come from impact fees for new homeowners as growth in the area near Immokalee Road continues, WINK News reports.
