Lee Board of County Commissioners approved measures May 7 to install a traffic signal, new lighting, upgraded drainage and other intersection improvements at Lee Boulevard and Joan Avenue North in Lehigh Acres. Commissioners approved a supplemental task authorization to an existing contract with Hardesty & Hanover for construction engineering and inspection consulting and awarded a construction contract to Horsepower Electric Inc. The intersection improvements are being made to enhance the safety and efficiency of the intersection between six-lane Lee Boulevard and two-lane Joan Avenue North. The project also includes ADA improvements, road markings and signs. Construction is expected to begin in December and be finished in about six months.
