The Lee Clerk of Courts said Tuesday that juror summons will be issued again starting Sept. 14 and jury trials will restart this month in Lee County. Prospective jurors will undergo health screenings including temperature checks before entering the courthouse. Face coverings will be required inside the building, WINK News reports. “If you are selected to serve as a juror, please be assured that your health and well-being remain our first priority. Jurors will be processed efficiently with all social distancing requirements being followed throughout their service,” says Linda Doggett, Lee County Clerk of Courts.

Minutes can save lives and property when it comes to fire response, especially in a rural area such as Golden Gate Estates. The Greater Naples Fire Rescue District is trying to tackle its response times, the biggest battle in that rural area. The fire district is teaming up with Collier Emergency Medical Services to open two new fire stations in the Estates. The move-in goal is next month for one being constructed on Lord’s Way off Collier Boulevard. Another building near Desoto and Golden Gate boulevards is still in the early planning phases. Collier EMS expects that completion of both buildings will help reduce response times by as much as 15 minutes, WINK News reports.

The School District of Lee County approved a long-term emergency requirement for protective gear Tuesday. Students, teachers and staff all must wear face coverings in district buildings now during the pandemic. The new emergency policy says the district follows the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention and Florida Department of Health guidelines during any pandemic or infectious disease situation in the future. The policy goes into effect immediately for 90 days. After that, the school board can vote to make it permanent, WINK News reports.
