Jimmie The Beef Guy celebrated the grand opening of its restaurant Saturday at Springs Plaza in Bonita Springs. The small takeout spot was formerly Jasmine Garden Chinese restaurant and most recently Fast Deck Seafood, which closed last year in that Ollie’s Bargain Outlet-anchored retail center on the southeast corner of U.S. 41 and Bonita Beach Road.
Jimmie Hart, a Chicago transplant and Italian beef connoisseur, is co-owner of the local business with his son, Quentin. They both share a passion for good food. Born and raised in the northwest suburbs of Chicago, Hart was inspired by Chicago restaurants and distributors and he always particularly had a love for Chicago-style food. He still even works for Bari Beef, Jimmie’s purveyor of beef and au jus from Chicagoland.
Jimmie The Beef Guy’s all-time favorite specialties include its signature Italian beef sandwiches – thinly sliced Italian roast beef from Chicago served wet or dry on a toasted French roll. The Maxwell Polish features a jumbo beef and pork Polish sausage on a French roll with mustard, grilled onions and sport peppers.
The simple menu also has Italian sausage and breaded steak sandwiches. The Italian Stallions appetizer has thinly sliced Italian beef with mozzarella/provolone cheese and hot giardiniera wrapped in a crispy dough and deep-fried.
Jimmie The Beef Guy, 8951 Bonita Beach Road SE, Suite 550, is open 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Catering packages are available with advance notice.
