The program does not take the patient from her physician but instead helps to ensure that every patient, regardless of physician association or the time of day, is seen by an OB\/GYN immediately should there be an emergency. The addition consists of an 11,000-square-foot vertical expansion that connects to the north tower wing. Studio+ and Principal Christopher Ressler have a 10-year working relationship with Lee Health. Ressler and Studio+ Project Manager and Architect Marcia Lester will lead the architectural and engineering team, including Smith Seckman Reid Inc. and Consor Engineering. The design team has worked on more than 70 projects at Cape Coral Hospital in the last 10 years, including updates to its existing ICU suite, which is close to 30 years old. It features the most advanced technology in the field of robotic surgery \u2013 the da Vinci Xi Surgical System \u2013 the health care system says. The da Vinci robot is designed to help surgeons perform minimally invasive surgeries, such as colorectal surgeries and unique surgeries in the areas of gynecology, urology, ear nose and throat and general surgery. Lee Health recently expanded its robotic program by adding da Vinci robots to all of its four acute-care hospitals. Since late last year, the health system has added four new da Vinci robots to the program, bringing the total number of machines from two to six. The procedure is performed entirely by a surgeon who controls the system.
